Solacé - The Warning
Full-AI test commercial. This film was made for the “Another Big Ad Contest” from Runway.
A fit, image-obsessed young couple jogging on the Copacabana beach is suddenly intercepted by their time-traveling future selves. The weathered, frantic older couple desperately attempts to deliver a warning about an impending AI apocalypse. However, the younger couple completely ignores the end of the world, entirely distracted and horrified by the severe sun damage on their future faces.
To execute this, I utilized an audio-first production pipeline, generating and refining the dialogue to lock in a precise 30-second comedic timing. Once the audio edit was perfect, I generated the character and environment stills, then animated the scene by combining those images with the pre-generated voice tracks. Interestingly, I didn’t have to explicitly prompt the for the younger couple's condescending attitude or the older couple's frantic panic; the AI based the physical performances on the tone of the audio track.
The biggest challenge during generation was maintaining spatial consistency. Because the younger and older characters share similar traits, the AI frequently mixed up their positions, who was standing next to whom.
